Tom Ferson
BACKCOUNTRY

Having taken inspiration from a range of historical art movements as disparate as Impressionism and Pop Art, Tom Ferson's body of work to date has been a unique amalgam of the traditional and the contemporary. The subject of his paintings and drawings has ranged from intimate portraiture and narrative painting to text-based work and landscape, and is bound by a visibly deft touch, an otherworldly and distinctive colour sensibility, and an inclination toward the surreal and psychedelic.

2023 has marked a return to his hometown of Sydney, the journey to which has been documented in his latest body of work - a series of landscape paintings executed

en plein air that capture varied and uniquely Australian environments.

Tom was born in Sydney in 1988, graduated from the College Of Fine Arts in 2009, lived and worked in Melbourne from 2019 to 2022, and is currently studying a Masters of Art Therapy at Western Sydney University.

Born 1988 in Sydney, Australia.
Currently living and working in Sydney.
