SUE TESORIERO
INTERIORSCOPE
I have so enjoyed painting this series of interiors. When it all came together, I immediately thought of a kaleidoscope, which forms the basis of the show’s title.
Prior to starting this series, I visited the Matisse exhibition at the AGNSW. I was enamored by the colour and brushwork which I was continually thinking about while creating these works. This is reflected in the use of high chroma colour and pattern as well as some of Matisse’s paintings on the walls of the interiors.
Another great source of creative inspiration was from the late Peter Powdich who was a lecturer at Sydney College of the Arts where I studied Visual Communications. As a homage, a few of the Interiors contain works of Peter’s infamous nudes.
This series embraces the different kinds of spaces we like to call home
