I am interested in looking at societies disconnection from nature through severed fragments of Australian native flora set in chaotic backgrounds. I use brushwork, colour  and texture to conjour the heat, dry and movement of our bushland to play on nostalgia and our longing for a greater connection to our country.

My work revisits the still life tradition and looks at contemporary ways of negotiating the relationships between man and his environment.

I am particularily interested in using colour to heighten emotion in a piece and suggest sumptuous luxury, referring to the gluttony and excesses of modern times, which references the Vanitas tradition.
