ALISON PETERS
MODERN LOVE

Alison Peters is an abstract painter based on Darramuragal land near Sydney’s Garigal National Park.

Her practice stems from a lifelong fascination with patterns and textures which plays out in constant experimentation with the potential of materials.  In her paintings, loose gestural grids of ultra matte colour interweave in compositions the artist describes as liminal spaces- portals between real and imagined landscapes, between the conscious and unconscious and across the past, present, and future. They are both a record of a meditative creative process, and a metaphor for our place in the fabric of things- each of us interconnected, via real and virtual networks, within a mysterious universe we are still only beginning to understand.
